So you've decided that its time for you to have a website and now its time to make a decision on whether you will build it yourself or have someone build it for you. Its really that simple and should be a relatively easy decision to make.
Maybe you already have the necessary skill sets to build your own website and in that case you already know what you need to do to create a presentable site that best represents your businesses message and your products and services. But maybe you just don't feel like typing all that code or maybe you just don't have the time. That's usually the case with most business owners so many people will turn to some type of website building software, join an online template service or have someone build it for them.
I prefer online template services because they are great time savers and they give you all the tools you need to easily and quickly take your business live, usually in less then a day or two. These services are made for the non tech client and can be extremely user friendly and affordable and after just a

a few short hours playing with these tools you should be able to go in and make all the changes you like. With practice the quality of your site should only improve.
If you do not have the knowledge it takes to build a website from start to finish, then again, online or offline website building software is the way to go.
So where do you find this software and how do you know which one will work for you? My suggestion is to do a Google search for website builders and do a little research. These types of services are usually pretty affordable and there are
many to choose from. I would pick 3 or 4 options and see what they have to offer and go from there. Some of these services even offer 30 day free trials before they even charge you.
As far as the actual software that you can buy, well thats really a pretty easy fix. Go to your local office supply store and talk to one of the floor clerks and have them direct you to the software they have on the shelf. I've bought a few of these programs myself and quite frankly wasn't all that impressed. I have found and have heard from many others the the option that is the easiest and most affective is the online template services discussed above.
They will not only provide you the tools to get your site up in running in short order but will host your site for you while allowing you to publish it with one click of a mouse. To me, anything you can do to save time and make things easier for you to run your business is worth it's weight in gold.
Now lets talk about having someone build a website for you.
This is the one that most people will end up choosing and probably the best choice of all if time is more important to you and your business then saving a few dollars on a template service. The question here is what kind of site you want and how much are you willing to spend to get it build. Checking out other website samples will help you decide which type of website is best for you.
Bottom line here is if your in business today then having a website is not an option, it's an absolute must! And the quicker you get online, the quicker you'll know that this is not an understatement!
Websites are more affordable then ever so there are really no excuses for not having a presence online. And saying that you are not tech savy or not much of an internet person does not change the fact that your customers and your competition is.
One last item to talk about is the promoting of your new site. This is the most imprtant part becuase even if you have the most amazing website in the world with all the bells and whistles but nobody can see it, well then it doesn't matter does it? Websites are not like the movie "The Field Of Dreams". Just because you build it does not mean they will come.
